Hello visitors! My name is Michael Ver Sprill and I've been a photographer for several decades, shooting just about everything, from weddings to food, events, portraits, real estate, nature and landscapes. Since I loved to travel and go camping, I gravitated towards landscape photography and also nightscapes. One of the challenges of night photography is to noisy images so I started experiment with different techniques to give me cleaner results. This lead to people asking for my help, so I decided to create a youtube channel to explain my techniques and reach as many people as possible!

Can you go in building or did you, you know… break the law?
You need to trespass in order to enter this building.. worst case scenario you get a caught and are given a fine. Best case scenario you get caught and they just give you a warning. I've been there when cops patrol, they never go into the structure... Just wait for them to leave or exit a different spot.
Thanks for your video. I have the same tripod almost (VT 3500) But I don't know how to install the teleprompter on. Could you please 🙏 guide me
Hi, thanks for this review :) I just bought the Nikon Z8 and this 40mm f2.5, I found that the autofocus was slow and when my subject runs towards me it becomes blurry and it takes time to come back, it's a good lens but it has these limits in video. Can you confirm that it's not the fault of my settings and that this AF is slow? My settings is AF-F, auto or people, zone wide. it does the eyes tracking correctly but the image is blurry unless I am static.
Grazie!!! 🙏
What app are you using for the shot tracer
Shot Tracer Pro... It's around $95 per year and works pretty well detecting the ball automatically. Some clips is struggles to find the ball but you can manually key where the ball goes and it will create the line.
Good golf is about how bad the bad shots are. I found when I switched to the single plane swing my bad shots weren't as bad. Before I would hit a fair share of fats but with single plane my misses tend to be thin but they would still go straight and with only minimal loss in distance. I am noticing some of that too in your vlog. It helps in avoiding the blowout holes. Good luck on your golf journey.
Exactly, I totally agree! My misses are still in play and I rarely fat my shots.. if anything I thin them more often then not which I've noticed is me extending my lead leg at impact. Thanks for dropping a comment!
I'm getting banding? using Sony A7RV 61mp and Samyang 24mm f1.8
As a golf pro in my young days I enjoy watching someone making progress. I use to play around with my swing a lot and even looked at Moe's technique which I thought was very interesting. Without looking at your swiing in great detail the one thing I noticed on your bad shots was that you were staying back on your right foot. Good luck and stick with it.
@@FlyingCameraGuy Thanks for watching! I’m jealous you were a golf pro! I wish I started at a younger age, but I’m definitely happy with the progress I’ve made over the span of a year. Hopefully next year I can shoot a couple even pars 🤞🏻 cheers 🍻
@@Milkywaymike Don't forget to work on your game around the greens, that's an area where you can save a lot of strokes.
Hey everyone, I am aware this channel is primarily about photography. This is something different that I wanted to create sharing another hobby of mine that I am passionate about. If golf is not your thing, totally understand and feel free to skip this video. I still plan on making photography videos in the future as well, but some unrelated video topics may pop up from time to time. Cheers everyone!
ISO 10000 is way too high. If you are going to stack anyway. Shooting at 1600 or 3200 gives much better colour and dynamic range. Just add exposure in post.
ISO 1600 / 3200 is not doable with an F4 lens and a shorter shutter speed if you are trying to capture sharp stars (*depending on the camera model and bortle class) as the exposure would be too dark to salvage in post. There are numerous variables like dynamic range of the camera body being use, bortle class of the sky, objective of the photo (short exposure time for sharp stars but a noisier image vs longer exposure times for a cleaner image but elongated stars) for a blanket statement like yours since it is definitely not always that simple.
superb comparison for me the 14-30 is better due to extra reach, i do not use for stars the sharpness is great on both and in real life at f5.6 they are rock solid the 14-30 is much smaller/lighter/cheaper and uses standard filters. f2.8 is not a killer for me. Wonderful video well done.
Loved this comparison, and I absolutely appreciate the detail you went into and the systematic method of comparison. Do you think the 20mm vs 14mm focal length for emphasizing the foreground is a big different?
@@AadidevSooknananNXS On paper it’s not a huge difference, however I do prefer the exaggerated stretching “look” that you get with 14mm lens vs a 20mm lens if that makes sense. I think it boils down to personal preference and I’ve always used a 14-24mm for the bulk of my landscape/ night photography that I’m just very use to that look.
@@Milkywaymike Thank you!!
still all numbering out of order... thats is so anoyng
Awesome!
I stopped in the side of the road between Vaughn and Roswell and took one small branch off a cholla and brought it back to South Texas. It has been growing very well in a terracotta pot. My souvenir from New Mexico. I miss New Mexico and Arizona. My favorite places to visit.
Thanks for the tutorial
This doesn't have AF?
Sadly the "pro" kit doesn't have adapter rings for fuji f2 (the smallest adapter they sell is too big) - but their non pro kit has the right sizes but no CPL... wonder if I can Jerry rig the small adapter to the pro... Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the "fantastic" comparison between these great lenses Mike! ;-) I use the 14-30 f/4 on my Z8 for landscape photography (on a solid Leofoto tripod and 10 second delay for optimum sharpness), and find it to be super-sharp in the center and mid zones. That said, I would have expected the 14-24 f/2.8 to show even better center sharpness especially when stopped down to f/5.6 or f/8. The only thing I'm not crazy about on the 14-30 is that necessity to turn to lens barrel before shooting! I don't think many photographers care about this "feature" to make the lens a bit more compact for storage, as IMHO, it just delays shooting another second or two, and introduces one more function with potential to break over time.
Adobe continues to fuck around and find out 6 years later, cause i have a bone to pick with them with the bullshitery that's going on, there is no convenience, or easy going modes, they move things that don't need to be moved and continue to change everything instead of understanding what's great about it. IM LOSING MY MIND .
Amazing tutorial thank you so much for all the information.👍
Very interesting Mike. TY for your detailed presentation. Well done! 👌
Viltrox should have made it a pancake, or super sharp, or super fast, or something that they would be able to compete with Nikon 40/2, which Nikon already selling at $226. You can't compete on price alone especially when it's already so low.
This lens was definitely unnecessary… they need to focus on making Full Frame f1.2 lenses at half the price of Nikon. If they did that they would be killing it right now. Their 75mm f1.2 is really good but it’s a DX lens… if they can make the quality of the 75mm 1.2 in 20, 24, 35, 50 and 85 FX then they would steal a lot of Nikons lens revenue.
👍. Se lo agradezco. 👌
Hi, I did the reverse order but can't get the vortex. No matter how, its never never a vortex. Logically the earth spin round, not in a vortex style isn't it?
The vortex has to do with lens manipulation in conjunction with earths rotation. You are still doing a normal star trail that should be around 2-3 hours long for it to work correctly. Your photos have to slowly zoom via a rotation device you can build for your lens OR you can artificially zoom in using LR Timelapse to crop each photo ever so slight to mimic zooming in.
@@Milkywaymike I'm not sure what u said will create a vortex. I know PS can do all kind of vortex without using LR timelapse feature. It has to set the parameter in degree X and Y. But certainly not what u said in the video by simply click Starstax in reverse order. Thats a lie
You helped me solve the problem, man. Thanks a lot!
The master at work
Epic!!! Best Timelapse edit I’ve seen in quite a while.
Thank you very much for the complement!
Wowsers, I can just imagine the work that went into that, Mike. Excellent, truly unique and creative work. Love it. 👌

great work Mike. Loved it mate
Holy sick video. Done a few attempts as something like that, but that is next level execution. I have to up my game like 100x. More more more more more please.

Not what I expected. Awesome video!
Amazing!!
You were just up the road from me. Got out of Vegas and now I'm off-grid in Pahrump which is Bortle 3-4. 20 minute drive down the road and I'm in Bortle 1-2. Great video Mike.....
Loved it Mike :)

Mike, such an great idea and perfect matching timelapse
Awesome 🔥🔥
So fun. I may try to go there someday. Excellent editing!
Whoa, wicked cool! Awesome work.
Thank you very much!
Loved the change of light color as well. Must have taken a lot of planning and work. It is an awesome video!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks... yes I was running on fumes with little sleep lol
Excellent work Mike! I love all the star trails. Spot on compositions!
Absolutely sick work! Loved the flickering between different light colors and unique star trail types 😮❤
Thank you!!!
Haha...Cool stuff. Nice to see something different using your skills and a light-hearted change to the norms. A lot of work I would think but great stuff. 😊😊😊
Thank you... Yes a lot of work... A week of photographing, 3 12 - 15 hour days of processing and editing the time lapse clips... Haven't even touched my photographs yet lol.

Thanks!
Hello and thanks for the nice video. Do you think it adapts to street with portrait and blurry? I would like to buy it for Nikon Z. Good light and thanks.
Mike, thanks for the most useful experimentation on the effect of number of photos stacked. Most helpful. My understanding--and it's a lot from my own sense of it from experience as well as what I've heard-- is that there are two different purposes in stacking astro photos: 1) reducing random "noise"; 2) improving the "signal" or the definition and luminosity of celestial objects. My understanding is that for reducing noise, it's the number of exposures at a given ISO that produces the effect, not the total time of exposure. However, for the 2nd purpose of improving the signal--the clarity of the stars and nebulae--it is the total exposure time.
